Your handwriting stays on your device.

HanziAgain is designed for private, offline Chinese handwriting practice. The app has no account, advertising, analytics, tracking, or handwriting-upload service.

1. Scope

This policy explains how the HanziAgain app for iPhone and iPad, this website, and support email handle information. “We,” “us,” and “HanziAgain” refer to the developer of HanziAgain.

2. Information stored by the app

HanziAgain stores the following information locally in its app container:

  • handwriting drawings and saved Studio works, including name-seal text;
  • practice attempts, scores, dates, and saved drawing snapshots;
  • preferences and presentation choices such as theme, voice, work size, guides, paper, seal, and mounting; and
  • the bundled offline character catalog and source-license metadata.

The app does not transmit that information to the developer or to a HanziAgain server. Stroke guidance and full-character recognition are performed on device.

3. Studio Lifetime purchase

Studio Lifetime is an optional, one-time in-app purchase processed by Apple. HanziAgain asks StoreKit whether the Apple Account has a current entitlement so purchased features can be unlocked. HanziAgain does not receive or store payment-card details and does not send purchase information to a HanziAgain server. Apple's handling of App Store purchases is governed by Apple's privacy policy and account settings.

4. Photos, sharing, and external links

HanziAgain asks for permission to add an exported PNG to Photos only when you choose that action. PNG and SVG sharing uses Apple's system share sheet, so you choose the destination and that provider's terms apply. Optional data-source and license links open third-party websites governed by their own policies.

5. This website

This website does not provide an account, submit forms, or run advertising. It uses Vercel Web Analytics and Google Analytics to measure visits and understand website traffic. We use those reports to learn which public pages are useful and improve the site. This website source does not send custom analytics events or user-provided identifiers. The Google Analytics configuration runs only on the canonical hanziagain.com hostname, not on local development or preview deployments.

The site stores your chosen visual style and System, Light, or Dark appearance in browser local storage only so it can restore that display. Those preferences stay in your browser and are not sent in custom analytics events.

Vercel documents Web Analytics as cookie-free and its recorded data points as anonymous. A page-view data point may include the event time, requested page, filtered query parameters, referrer, coarse location, operating system, browser, device type, and analytics script version. Vercel uses a request-derived hash to recognize a visitor within one day and resets that hash after 24 hours. See Vercel's Web Analytics privacy and compliance documentation.

The Google tag for measurement ID G-0THQ9W77FE may automatically collect page URLs and titles, referrers, language, screen resolution, user and session statistics, approximate location, and browser and device information. Google Analytics normally stores a pseudonymous client ID in first-party _ga and_ga_<container-id> cookies to distinguish users and sessions. Google documents a default cookie expiration of two years, subject to browser limits and property settings. Google Analytics uses IP addresses at collection time to determine approximate location and says it discards them before the data is logged.

We do not intentionally send handwriting, support email content, names, or email addresses to either analytics service. Google describes its Analytics processing and controls in its data safeguards documentation and privacy policy.

Vercel also hosts this website. Like most web hosts, it may process technical request data needed to deliver and protect the site, such as an IP address, request time, browser or device headers, and the requested URL. Vercel handles hosting and analytics data under its privacy notice and security practices.

6. Email and support

Contact links on this site open your email app; they do not submit data through the website. If you email us, we receive the address and content you choose to send. We use it to answer the request, investigate an issue, or consider feedback. Please do not send sensitive personal information or private handwriting samples unless they are necessary for support.

7. Retention, deletion, and choices

In the app, you can delete saved Studio works and clear selected or all practice-history records. Deleting HanziAgain removes remaining local app data subject to the device's normal backup and deletion behavior. Because there is no HanziAgain account or server-side app profile, there is no remote handwriting record for us to access or delete.

Vercel Web Analytics does not set an analytics cookie, and its aggregate reports do not give us an identifiable visitor record that we can look up or delete. Browser or network content-blocking tools may prevent the analytics request. Questions about website analytics or privacy choices can be sent to contact@hanziagain.com.

Google Analytics reports are retained according to the property settings and Google's terms. You can block or delete Google Analytics cookies in your browser, use a content-blocking tool, or install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Because Analytics reports use pseudonymous identifiers rather than a HanziAgain account, we may not be able to locate an individual visitor's record. You can still send a privacy request to contact@hanziagain.com.

Support email is retained only as reasonably needed to resolve the request, keep ordinary business records, prevent abuse, or meet legal obligations. You may ask us to delete support correspondence by emailing contact@hanziagain.com. We may need to retain limited records where required by law.

8. Children

The app does not require a child—or anyone else—to create an account or send personal information to us. If a parent or guardian believes a child sent personal information through support email, contact us so we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.

9. Changes and contact

We will update this policy before materially changing how HanziAgain handles information, and we will keep the App Store privacy disclosure consistent with the distributed app version. Questions or privacy requests can be sent to contact@hanziagain.com.
