1. Agreement and app license
By downloading, accessing, or using HanziAgain or this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use them. Your license to the iOS/iPadOS app is also subject to Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, unless a different EULA is shown on the App Store. If these terms conflict with Apple's EULA for the app license, Apple's EULA controls.
2. What HanziAgain provides
HanziAgain provides offline Chinese handwriting practice, an on-device character catalog, local practice history, and a Studio workspace. The free experience includes Practice, Library, History, and one Studio work up to 10 × 10 cells with plain PNG export. Features may evolve as the app is improved.
Stroke-alignment guidance is deterministic and a completed character may be checked using on-device recognition. These features are practice aids, not calligraphy assessment, certification, or a guarantee of linguistic or artistic accuracy.
3. Studio Lifetime purchase
Studio Lifetime is an optional non-consumable in-app purchase that unlocks additional local Studio features. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. The App Store shows the localized price, taxes, and purchase terms before you confirm. Purchases are processed exclusively by Apple and are tied to the purchasing Apple Account.
- Use Restore Purchase in Settings to check a prior entitlement.
- Family Sharing is available only where Apple permits it and the App Store product is configured and eligible for it.
- Refund requests and billing disputes are handled by Apple under its policies, including through reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Existing local works remain viewable if entitlement status changes; premium editing or export actions may require a current entitlement.
4. Your content and your device
You retain your rights in handwriting, compositions, seal text, and exports that you create. You are responsible for ensuring that content you create, import, or share does not violate another person's rights or applicable law. HanziAgain stores app content locally and does not provide a cloud backup service. You are responsible for device backups and for exports you choose to send elsewhere.
5. Acceptable use
You may not:
- use HanziAgain or this website to violate law or another person's rights;
- interfere with the app, website, security, or normal operation;
- copy, redistribute, sell, or reverse engineer protected software or content except where applicable law expressly allows it; or
- misrepresent an export as an official assessment or certification.
6. Intellectual property and third-party material
HanziAgain, its software, visual identity, and original site content are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. The app also includes character data, graphics, conversion resources, and open-source software under their respective licenses. Required source information and license notices are available inside the app. Those materials remain subject to their own terms.
7. Availability and third-party services
Apple services, Photos, the system share sheet, linked websites, email providers, and export destinations are operated by third parties. Their availability and terms are outside our control. We may change, suspend, or discontinue parts of HanziAgain when reasonably necessary for safety, compatibility, law, or product development. We will not represent an optional paid feature as available when it is not.
8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, HanziAgain and this website are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties not expressly required by law. We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, perfect recognition, preservation of local data, or that every character or pronunciation will meet every learning need.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developer will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, arising from use of HanziAgain. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or liabilities that cannot legally be excluded. Apple's Standard EULA contains additional warranty, support, and liability terms for the licensed app.
